There are a few telling signs you should be aware of that will tell you if your alignment has been compromised. These include:

    • Your tires squealing as you drive
    • Your vehicle wavering to the right or left as you drive straight
    • Your steering wheel being crooked even though you’re driving in a straight line
    • Your tires are wearing down unevenly
    • Your steering wheel doesn’t return to the center when you are driving
    • The handling feels loose, like you don’t have full control of your vehicle

What Happens During the Alignment Repair Process?

When technicians repair your alignment, they look for three important things; camber, caster, and toe.

Camber – Camber describes how your tire is angled (inward or outward). When your tire is angled inward, it is known as negative camber, and when it is angled outward, it is positive camber. Regardless if they are pointing inward or outward, your tires will need to be readjusted.

Caster – The caster angle helps with cornering, steering, and stability and refers to the steering axis of your wheels, which can be viewed from the side of your car. If it is pointed toward the driver, it is positive caster, and when it is pointed away from the driver and toward the front of the vehicle, it is known as negative caster. Just like camber, you’ll need to have the caster alignment readjusted if it’s not pointed straight.

Toe – Lastly, the toe refers to the extent that your tire angles inward or outward, in reference to camber, when your vehicle is viewed from the top. Think of it as a toe in, toe out stance you may take when standing for long periods of time. The same goes for your tires and both call for readjustment.

During this process, technicians will also inspect your suspension, steering, air pressure, and the condition of your tires. If you need your alignment readjusted, look no further than the Sergio Lewis Body Shop! Call us today for more information.
